Say hello to your new lapdog! Stretch is a shy, sweet boy who LOVES attention. He is still recovering from being in the scary animal shelter, and is cautious in new places and with new people. But once he gets to know you, he doesn't want to be anywhere else. He is one of the rare dogs who like to be held like a baby, with his long tummy up and available for pets. His dachshund body fits perfectly in the crook of your arm.
Stretch enjoys walking on leash and gets along with other dogs, although he can become possessive of his human's lap. He is a very sensitive boy - a single scold works to discourage unwanted behavior. We are working on potty training, and he is learning quickly.
Stretch would do best in a quiet house with a family who is patient enough to let him come out of his shell at his own pace. Watching a rescue dog slowly open up and learn to feel safe again is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have, and the dog will never let you go a single day without knowing how important you are to them.
Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary an d other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Stretch is $300.
If you are interested in adopting Stretch, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area.
