Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Greta, 1 years old, spayed female, Pitbull Terrier mix, 36 pounds. She is located in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and is able to transport once an adopter is approved. See above for our application process.
Greta was dumped at a boarding facility. They had a gate open to one of their outside play yards and found her in there the next day. They reached out and asked if we could help and the rest is history. She had cherry eyes in both eyes when she came into rescue. If not familiar, this is where the tear producing third eye lid pops out of place appearing as a round, red cherry mass. We removed both of them, but the one in her right eye we had to go back for a second time as it didn't fully remove. This can happen in some cases. There is no medical issues caused by this and no ongoing medical care needed. We also mention this as you may notice some redness in some of the older pictures we have posted and did not want to raise any concern.
Greta is a happy, high-energy puppy who is full of love and ready to find her forever family. She’s an active girl who thrives on playtime and enjoys both rough-and-tumble play and gentle interactions, depending on her playmate’s style. Greta is great at reading other dogs’ signals—when a dog is done playing, she’ll happily entertain herself or settle back into her kennel.
She has experience with dogs of all sizes and ages. Greta adores playing with a 6-month-old Boxer puppy (tug-of-war is a favorite!), is respectful of senior dogs, and is very gentle with small-breed puppies. Supervision and guidance help her succeed, and she responds well to correction.
Dog & People Friendly
Greta has been dog-friendly since day one. She may bark or growl when inside her crate if another dog approaches, so slow and thoughtful introductions are recommended. Once that happens, she is always friendly. She walks well on leash and has not shown issues with pulling or reactivity to strangers (humans or other dogs).
Greta has done wonderfully with kids and is often around children in a busy household. Due to her puppy energy, she would do best in a home with children 5 years and older, or with adults who are comfortable continuing her training.
Home Life & Training
Crate trained and does well settling in her crate
Sleeps in her crate at night and stays crated when left alone
Free in the house when supervised
No food guarding with people or dogs
Still learning to take treats gently
She eats in her crate alongside other dogs and does well with group feeding routines.
Energy & Personality
Greta loves spending time in the yard, running nonstop and burning off her puppy energy. She absolutely loves toys—especially balls and squeaky or bouncy toys. She’s very affectionate and will happily stay close to you for cuddles, kisses, belly rubs, and relaxation time.
Ideal Home
Greta would thrive in an active home where she can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. A home with another playful dog would be a big plus, as she truly loves having a companion. She’s still a puppy and will need a patient adopter willing to continue training and help her grow into the best dog she can be.
If you’re looking for an affectionate, playful, toy-loving puppy who just wants to be loved and included, Greta might be your perfect match!
