Meet Peanut, the goofiest, most affectionate 110lb hunk of love you’ll ever meet.
Peanut is looking for a very special retirement home, one that understands her unique medical needs and is ready to welcome a big, loving presence. She has been without a home for over a year, and after fostering her for several weekends, we are thrilled to have her back with us by Christmas while we continue searching for her forever family.
Peanut is an approximately 6-year-old Mastiff mix who came from a situation of long-term neglect. Despite everything she has been through, she is kind, gentle, affectionate, and incredibly sweet.
About Peanut: Peanut loves everyone she meets and proudly greets visitors with her emotional support octopus, gifted by someone very special to her. She is very well house trained and non-destructive. She enjoys sniffing walks, zooms in the yard, and relaxing in her bed with her toys. She is a champion cuddler who prefers to be close to her people. Peanut has done well with calm dogs and would not mind a canine companion. She is ideal for someone looking for a loving dog without the chaos and destruction of puppy energy.
Medical needs: Peanut is an insulin-dependent diabetic and requires daily insulin, monitoring, and routine veterinary care. She has some old orthopaedic injuries and is maintained on daily gabapentin to keep her comfortable and mobile. She eats a veterinary-recommended diet, which she loves. Her estimated monthly costs for insulin, diabetes monitoring supplies, food, and gabapentin are approximately $500.
We understand this is a significant commitment, and we are hopeful to find a home with the resources, stability, and compassion to give Peanut the life she deserves.
Ready for adoption: Peanut’s adoption fee has been fully sponsored. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, has recently had dental surgery, her mast cell tumors have been fully excised, and her orthopedic issues have been addressed. Peanut is healed, comfortable, and ready to find her forever home.
All Peanut wants now is a loving home where she can be cherished unconditionally for the rest of her days. If you or someone you know may be the right fit for Peanut, please consider sharing her story. Sometimes the perfect home is just one share away.
Peanut is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on parasite prevention. Her adoption fee has been generously sponsored. To ensure Peanut continues to receive the consistent medical care and stability she needs, we require a veterinary reference check for all potential adopters. After submitting an application, we encourage you to reach out to your veterinarian to discuss Peanut’s medical needs and confirm she is a good fit for your family and lifestyle.

Most of our cats live in foster homes. Some are available to meet at satellite locations such as Pet Valu and Ren's Depot. A few foster homes are available to meet and greets at their home, or we also do meet and greets at request at our shelter prior to adoption. Most of these results in same day adoptions, and only take place after an adoption interview.
