My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jonesy
Also known as Joe, Jonathan B, Bonesly, or “that little spotted guy who sneaks under the blankets at bedtime.”

Jonesy is a 3-year-old, 50 lb Pit Bull/Boxer mix with a playful heart, a lot of energy, and a deep desire to connect with his person. He’s not a one-size-fits-all dog — but for the right home, he can be an incredibly rewarding companion.

Personality & Quirks:

  • Playful, energetic, and always ready to engage.

  • Expressive and vocal; he lets you know what he wants and when he wants it.

  • Enjoys affection in short bursts, but bedtime is non-negotiable — he wants to be under the blankets with his person.

  • A charming, spotted little dog with a big personality.

Energy Level & Daily Needs:

  • High energy and thrives with structure.

  • Requires daily exercise, time outdoors, and mental enrichment.

  • Does best with someone who enjoys an active routine and can meet his needs consistently.

Affection & Handling:

  • Likes pets and occasional cuddling, though he’s not a constant lap dog.

  • Values closeness on his terms and finds comfort in routine and nighttime companionship.

People & Social Behavior:

  • Shy with new people at first, but warms up quickly.

  • Once comfortable, he is relaxed and himself around visitors in the home.

  • No known issues with men, women, or children.

Other Animals:

  • Jonesy is happiest as an only pet.

  • He can be selective with other dogs, and anxiety may surface around other anxious animals.

  • Has shown interest in cats, but a multi-pet home is not recommended.

Training & Support Needs:

  • Anxiety and high energy have been his biggest challenges.

  • Consistent exercise, enrichment, and outdoor time make a noticeable difference.

  • He benefits from patient, understanding humans who value progress over perfection.

Ideal Home:

  • A calm, stable household where Jonesy can be the focus.

  • Someone who appreciates a dog with personality, opinions, and emotional depth.

  • A person looking for a loyal companion and is willing to invest time and care.

Bonus:

  • Crate trained.

  • Deeply loving once a bond is formed.

Jonesy may not be the easiest dog — but he is a genuine one. For someone ready to meet him where he is, Jonesy offers loyalty, laughter, and a meaningful connection that grows with time.

More about this rescue

We started out fighting for our baby boy, Lucci, who was killed due to Airport Animal Emergi-Center Clinic's breed prejudice. When he was killed, we make a promise that no bully would be left behind. Now we try to save as many bullies as we can!
