Canela is a gentle dog who can be shy at first and would thrive with a patient family that can read her body language and respect her boundaries. She needs time and understanding to feel safe, but once she bonds with her people, her love is deep and unconditional. Canela would prefer to be the only animal in the home, allowing her to build a strong, trusting relationship and truly shine as a devoted companion.

Canela has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Canela is now ready for her new home!

Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.
