Hello friends! My name is Speckled and I am the new best friend you’re looking for. Not to brag, but for a five-month old, I’m kind of smart. I know basic commands and I’m doing really well on being housebroken. If you watch, I’ll go to the front door when it’s time for me to go out (most of the time anyway). I like my crate well enough, but I might whimper a little before settling down. Sometimes my humans let me spend the night on my doggy bed next to theirs, and I do REALLY well.
It takes me a little bit to open up in new surroundings, but once I do, I’m all in. I like everyone I’ve met and there’s nothing better than cuddling up or laying at your feet. My foster family says I have the softest fur and am very lovable. If you’d like, I’ll even play a game of shadow with you. Where you go, I go. But I’m pretty good at entertaining myself as well. I play with the toys that I’m allowed to have, and there are no puppy teeth marks where there shouldn’t be.
I love my variety of toys and I'm learning to play fetch. Going for a walk is one of my favorite things, especially if you’ll run with me at the end. I walk pretty nicely on a leash and am learning to stay on the right side of my walker. It’s easy to ignore the birds and squirrels, but I will stop if a car is passing or I hear another dog barking. I will also sniff everything along my walk until it becomes familiar to me. I haven’t been introduced to cats, but since I’m pretty easy going, I think we could be friends. Of course, dog friends are a given!
My vet says I’m in great shape and currently weigh 34 pounds. I have a quiet voice, but I’m thinking about learning to use it.
What would I like in a forever home? People that will love me and snuggle with me, that will provide structure and playtime, maybe even a big yard. I love to learn new things and hope that my new family will keep teaching me (I love treats as a reward). If you’re looking for a loyal and warm, silly but smart companion, I’m definitely your girl.
Hurry, come meet me today and see if we’re a good match. Apply now at peaklabrescue.com/adopt. I’m waiting for you…
