My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lainey is a very athletic girl who is smart, food motivated, and a quick learner. She is working hard on housebreaking and almost has it mastered. She learned how to sit and shake in just a couple of minutes, showing how eager she is to please.

Lainey loves kids, gets along with everyone she meets, and even travels well. She truly just wants to be with her people and soak up all the love, especially from little ones. She also does great with other animals and would make an excellent jogging or active companion.

This girl can jump a baby gate like a tiny deer but once she is settled in her kennel, she is quiet through the night and goes right in for a treat. Like many puppies her age, she is still working on not jumping up when she is excited and learning to take food gently from childrens hands. With continued training, she is going to be an amazing family dog.

Location: Foster home

Lainey is 8 months old and weighs 32 pounds.

The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member.

More about this shelter

We promote the humane care of all abandoned and stray animals in our community. We are a no-kill shelter. All of our pets leave the shelter for their forever homes micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, and altered.

Founded in 2002, Helping Strays is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported entirely by donations.

Our lucky animals receive appropriate medical care, are featured on the Helping Strays website "adoption list" and are taken to several adoption events every month in an attempt to find permanent, loving homes.
