My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bannock! She is a darling 2 year old Kelpie mix, searching for her forever home.

This lovely young lady was brought to the shelter after some kind CN workers found her on the train tracks, in need of emergency, lifesaving surgery. She endured a tremendous amount of pain and fear, and still her incredibly precious personality remained constant.

Bannock appears to be a mix of herding breeds such as kelpie and Australian shepherd. We aren't 100% sure on her breeds, but there is no doubt this girl is going to need LOTS to do once she has recovered from surgery. Intelligent, determined, and focused, these breeds love having jobs, games, and tricks to focus on and master. Once she's recovered, she'll need a home ready to give her both mental challenges and physical outlets, adapted thoughtfully for her special‑needs body.

Mental and physical stimulation is extremely important for such highly driven dogs, and Bannock will need extra special attention, given she is still in an acute healing stage. She is currently awaiting a leg amputation and has very restricted mobility. Once she has surgery, and has gone through full recovery, because of her size she should be able to live as a fairly normal dog.

Bannock would do best with guardians who are patient, consistent, and excited to help her navigate life as a high‑drive working breed with special needs. She would thrive in a calm, supportive environment with guardians committed to her long‑term mobility and wellbeing will help her continue to grow into the remarkable dog she already is.
