Name: Meta
Animal ID: 587030
Gender: Mare
Age: 10 years old
Breed: Quarter horse
Height: 14hh
Adoption Fee: $1000
Location: Houston
Adopter experience needed: Intermediate
Training level: Broke to ride
Current assessment and personality: This mare has a unique background that has shaped both her personality and her needs, which we will tell to interested parties. A past negative experience has left her with some new abnormal discomfort when doing consistent arena work, which creates a few limitations in that setting. Because of this, she is not best suited for repetitive schooling in the arena. However, these same sensitivities do not take away from her ability to enjoy and succeed in other areas. She is a forward, energetic riding horse with plenty of "go" and a curious, willing attitude. She can sometimes have her own opinions under saddle, so she will thrive with a confident, patient rider who listens to her and works with her rather than against her. On the trails, she truly shines-she is much more relaxed, happy, and comfortable, making her a wonderful trail partner. On the ground, Meta enjoys human interaction and is super social.
Health/lameness: This mare came into care with a stifle wound that has since fully healed. As part of the healing process, new scar tissue has formed in the area, which can occasionally cause her some discomfort, particularly at the canter or tight circles. Her adopter will need to commit to keeping her on a quality joint supplement and maintaining a regular program focused on building and supporting stifle strength.
