My Journey Hi, I’m Jewell! I was rescued alongside my siblings by a kind woman doing TNR work in Van Nuys. Thanks to her care, I’m now safe, loved, and ready to find a forever home where I can continue to blossom.
My Social Life Other cats ? I get along very well with other cats and truly thrive with feline companionship. Having a kitty friend isn’t just a preference for me — it’s a comfort. Dogs ? Still deciding… Kids? Haven’t met them yet but might warm up. I may be a little shy at first, but with patience and a safe, cozy space, I warm up beautifully.
My Personality Gentle, sensitive, and sweetly curious. I’m a soft soul who takes a little time to feel secure, but once I do, my affectionate and playful side shines through.
I Enjoy… All kinds of toys, especially wand toys (they bring out my inner hunter!) Gentle pets — and yes, I’m a fan of belly rubs once I trust you Quiet companionship and relaxing near my people Playtime followed by peaceful lounging
I’m Not a Fan Of… Being rushed. I do best when I’m allowed to acclimate at my own pace with patience and reassurance.
What Makes Me Special I’m a sleek, beautiful black cat with a tender heart — once I trust you, I offer deep affection and surprising playfulness, plus those beloved belly rubs.
My Perfect Home My ideal home would include another friendly cat to keep me company and help me feel confident. A calm, patient family who understands that shy beginnings can lead to truly special bonds would be perfect for me. With time, love, and a feline friend by my side, I’ll shine like the Jewell I am.

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
