Diego Rivera is a rare breed known as a Xoloitzcuintli or more commonly called a Mexican Hairless Dog. He is about a year-and-a-half old and full of personality. He loves attention and plays well with other small dogs at the shelter. He has a very loud bark for a 20lb dog so some apartment complexes may not be suitable for him. His breed does require maintenance to take care of his skin so it's important to do research before applying for him. Diego is outgoing and well-mannered in his kennel and waits to go potty outside. He would love an active home that can give him the attention he deserves. He is vaccinated, microchipped and will be neutered before going home. Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.
APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
