Name: Ophelia
Animal ID: 590685
Gender: Mare
Age: 30 years old
Breed: Quarter Horse
Height: 13.3hh
Adoption Fee: $300
Location: Hempstead
Adopter experience needed: Beginner
Training level: Halter Broke
Potential: Companion Home Only. Cannot be ridden.
Current assessment and personality: This lovely mare is looking for a safe, forever home as a companion only. She is not suitable for riding, but she more than makes up for it with her sweet, gentle personality. She enjoys a calm routine and gets along well in a quiet environment. Due to a difficult past, she can be a bit skittish at times, particularly when handling around her face, and will need a patient, understanding adopter who will respect her boundaries and continue building her confidence. She would thrive in a peaceful environment with someone who understands her needs and is happy to offer her comfort, consistency, and companionship in her golden years.
Health/lameness: The left side of her larynx is paralyzed, meaning she is a "roarer" She is not affected as long as she is not breathing hard. We have only noticed it bothering her when we have attempted her training/riding evaluation which is why she is being adopted out to a non riding home only. She also requires her feed to be soaked due to having many worn down teeth.
