Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ruthie (1.5 years old) and Bernie (1 year) are a sweet mother-daughter bonded pair, looking for their forever home together!
Ruthie is very sweet and affectionate when she is in a space where she feels safe and confident. She is friendly with the humans who come to visit, and likes watching out the window for squirrels and birds.
This lovely fluffy girl is very chill and likes sleeping and looking out the window. She likes to play and occasionally gets zoomies in spurts, but is not overly energetic. She’s a relaxed kind of gal.
Bernie the kitten, Ruthie’s beloved daughter, is a spunky young girl who loves to play, but is not needy. She is curious and energetic, but also calm and snuggly, and loves a cuddle when she's feeling relaxed. She is always ready to explore but she also likes to sleep.
Bernie is a very sweet, happy girl, who goes with the flow.
This beautiful duo currently live in an apartment with one human, with whom they are very affectionate. There are also 2 boy cats with whom Ruthie definitely does *not* get along, although Bernie is indifferent. (Although Ruthie will growl to show her displeasure, her growling is totally harmless and is merely her form of communication.)
Ruthie and Bernie should go to a calm, relaxing home with no other animals and plenty of windows they can look out of. They are an adorable pair and get along really well. Ruthie has a third eyelid which partially obstructs both eyes. Her vision is perfectly normal otherwise, and the third eyelid is not related to any issue or illness.
Ruthie is a loving mom, and a very cute little lady who needs to gain confidence and feel comfortable in her new home. Her active, lovely daughter Bernie brings the perfect kitten magic to the mix. Are you ready for twice the fun this winter? Ruthie and Bernie are ready to light up your home!
Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Please fill out Pet Haven’s adoption application: http://bit.ly/2fd9U2Fpethavenmnwww..org/adopt.
All ages and breeds are a best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow-up visits.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
