Canela is a 1-year-old poodle with a sweet, quirky personality and a resilience that makes her extra special. Weighing about 14 lbs (and still needing to gain a few more), she’s a borough-bred pup who found her way to us from a NYC shelter.
Canela had a rough start and arrived at the shelter with fractures in both of her front legs, but she’s been recovering beautifully and showing just how strong she is. As she heals, her playful energy is slowly but surely coming back, and it’s been wonderful to watch her confidence grow day by day.
She’s house-trained and crate-trained, friendly with people, and enjoys the company of other dogs. Canela has a gentle, easygoing presence with just the right touch of goofiness that makes her endlessly endearing.

Hearts & Bones Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based rescue with dual bases in New York City, NY and Dallas, TX. We are dedicated to ending the needless euthanasia of shelter dogs through direct lifesaving, shared learning, and community building.
