Prosecco came to BARCS through no fault of her own and is ready for a fresh start in a loving home. She is a calm, gentle, and affectionate girl who adores being near her people, whether that means following them around, sharing quiet moments on the couch, or curling up for a cozy nap. While she may be a little nervous in new situations at first, Prosecco quickly warms up and shows her playful and loving personality. She enjoys playing with balls and toys and will happily demonstrate her “sit” for a treat or toy. She is highly food-motivated, eager to learn, and already knows basic commands like “sit” and “down,” quickly picking up new cues with guidance.
Prosecco has lived with other dogs, cats, and children and has shown herself to be gentle and polite with everyone she meets. In her foster home, she has started adjusting to a new environment and is building confidence with new people and experiences. She shows polite interest in resident dogs when on leashes, happily chilling nearby and occasionally greeting them with curious sniffs. She is highly motivated by companionship and prefers to be in the same room as her humans, though she is still learning to tolerate confinement. Prosecco’s foster noted that she initially struggled with baby gates and doors, clawing and chewing at them, but she settled quickly when allowed to be in the same room with a supportive human presence and enrichment. With consistent routines, patience, and management, she is learning to feel safe and comfortable in her foster home.
Outdoors, Prosecco enjoys walks, taking in new sights and smells, and passing other dogs calmly and politely. She pulls on the leash when excited but is otherwise easy to guide and non-reactive to people and dogs. She enjoys being included in everyday activities and responds beautifully to redirection. Her energy is balanced: she can be playful and engaged, particularly with toys, but she also enjoys quiet downtime and snuggle sessions.
Prosecco recently attended an adoption event, where she showed off her gentle, loving nature. After a brief adjustment period, she relaxed and enjoyed attention, offering kisses, accepting pets, and even taking a quiet nap once she felt comfortable. She thrives with gentle interactions, loves being included in daily life, and is happiest when she feels safe and secure with her people nearby.
