Cookie is an energetic, playful girl who loves running around and going on walks. She’s 2 years old, weighs 49 pounds, is already altered, and ready to go home today. Cookie is housebroken, can be crated, and knows her basic commands—making her an easy addition to an active household.
Cookie spent the snowy weekend with a volunteer and did absolutely wonderfully, quickly stealing everyone’s hearts. The only reason she isn’t staying with her foster family is because she deserves a home that’s the perfect fit—and they know that home is out there. Cookie is truly one of the smartest dogs her foster has ever met. She already knows “sit” and “down” and learns incredibly fast. When she first arrived, she would jump with excitement when it was time for walks. With gentle guidance, she now sits patiently and waits—calm, loving, and ready when her person is. She listens well, enjoys learning, and takes treats with the softest, most gentle manners.
She settled into the home with ease and was described as a happy, easygoing girl throughout her stay. Cookie fits right into family life, bringing together playful energy and a calm, joyful presence. She was incredibly sweet and gentle with kids, handling the bustle of a busy household beautifully and showing just how patient and loving she is.
Cookie is wonderfully respectful of her environment. Socks, shoes, trash cans, and kids’ toys are all safe around her. She may sniff, but she moves right along. Her manners are outstanding—no food begging, no counter surfing, and she quietly lays down during mealtimes. She even ignored an entire chicken carcass left on the counter during soup prep, proving just how trustworthy she is.
Cookie is house-trained and crate-trained and slept comfortably in her crate at night. Her three daily walks are going great—she enjoys sniffing, exploring, and getting her exercise. She’s a good eater, enjoys her Kong, and is beginning to show interest in fetching a ball. She forms strong bonds with her people and quickly chose her person in the foster home. While she may briefly whine when they leave, she settles calmly, is never destructive, and patiently waits for their return. She continues to grow more comfortable with separation and is always a joy to come home to.

When you arrive, you will first be asked to fill out our Shelter Adoption Application with your information. You may also pre-fill our Shelter Adoption Application ahead of time online to save time when you are at the shelter. Your application will be processed after you meet the animal.
Step 3: Tour our adoption rooms and write down the names of animals that you would like to meet. A volunteer or staff member will help you meet your chosen animals to make a match!
Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
What else to expect: Animals who are already spayed/neutered and past their stray hold (if applicable) can often go home with you the same day. Pick-up arrangements for unaltered animals and/or animals still on a stray hold will be made during your adoption class.
