Meet the Pet
This helps All Texas Dachshund Rescue with pet care costs.
Say hello to Benji! This handsome boy is now enjoying life in an ATDR foster home where the grub is good and there are plenty of four-legged friends to play with. What more could a little guy want other than a loving forever home to call his own.
In the meantime, it’s reported that he is kennel trained so he does fine in a kennel. He gets animated and/or makes noise when he needs to go potty or is hungry or has other needs he wants met. He’s good with older children who treat him with respect; however, he’s food aggressive and doesn’t want them or anyone else near him when he’s eating. Not too much to ask from a hungry boy, but he’s fine when he’s finished! He can be territorial so don’t invade his space. He’s never been aggressive with other pups or kids, but he won’t back down if aggressed on by one. Supervision while he’s playing with kids or other pets is advised until you know how they’ll react to each other. He doesn’t do well wearing collars...he always finds a way to get them off. He’s not leash trained, but will learn if he’s worked with. He’ll need a good fitting halter when you start using a leash.
Benji is young and still needs kind gentle guidance, but if worked with he will become a good loving pet and best friend to some lucky someone. If you would like for this to be you, please submit an adoption application for Benji! He’s ready and anxious to explore this exciting thing called life with you!
