My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Barney is a handsome hunky gentleman was found in a rural community as a stray wandering about and is looking for a new, loving fur-ever home where he can get all the love and cuddles he desires, plus snacks. Barney is a friendly and outgoing cat who loves attention and would likely make a great addition to any home. He's definitely very affectionate and will make a loving beefy companion and cuddle buddy on these cold winter nights. We're not sure if Barney has lived with other animals so testing and slow, proper introductions would be important for any new animal companions. He was living life outdoors as a big swaggering Tomcat and definitely got into a few scrapes with other cats. Now being neutered will hopefully calm that behaviour. He seems like he would likely be fine with kids who are cat savvy and adjusts quickly to a new environment. Barney is fairly chill and easygoing, and often can be found fully stretched out on the floor in nap land. Barney is a pretty great guy and is looking for a new life where he can learn about the luxuries of a loving home. Apply today to welcome this hunk into your home.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort
