My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Heather — now a 7-month-old Alaskan Husky mix with a spirit as bright as her future.

Heather’s story started in a tough place. She came to us as a stray, underweight and found out in the cold and rain during the recent flooding. But even after everything she’s been through, this girl is pure resilience wrapped in puppy joy.

Today, Heather is thriving. She’s playful, curious, and full of that classic Husky spark. She adores other dogs and would love a canine friend to romp around with. Cats, however, are not her favorite match, so a feline-free home will be best for her.

Heather greets every new person with enthusiasm, her tail never stops wagging, and she’s discovering the world the way a young dog should — with wonder, confidence, and excitement. With structure, affection, and plenty of adventures, she’ll blossom into an incredible lifelong companion.

Heather is growing fast, and we don’t want to see this sweet girl grow up in a shelter. She’s ready for her next chapter — one filled with love, stability, and a family to call her own.

If you’re looking for a brave, sweet, spirited young dog to share your life with, Heather is waiting to meet you.

Additional adoption info

We've got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt! The adoption process begins online, and all adoptions are done by appointment only. To reduce the animals' overall stress levels, we have decided to limit animal viewing to those people with appointments for specific animals.

How it works:

1. Check out our available animals online. If you see an animal you’re interested in, fill out that species adoption questionnaire at https://www.everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet to start the adoption process. Please be sure to include the name of the animal that you are interested in adopting. Questionnaires will only be reviewed if a specific animal is identified. You aren't obligated to adopt that pet, but it's a place to start.

2. Our staff will review your questionnaire and contact you to discuss the adoption. Please note that it often takes several days before you are contacted. We appreciate your patience! (If it has been longer than one week and you haven’t heard from us, please email us.)

3. Most animals will be available to go home the same day as the adoption meeting.

Adoptions by Appointment
Our shelter is currently closed for general animal viewing, but we’ve still got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt them. To help keep our staff, volunteers and community healthy, we are now providing adoptions by appointment. This enables us to comply with social distancing guidelines while still finding loving homes for the pets in our care.
