My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Guinness! Guinness is a beautiful black and white Lab mix with the prettiest brown eyes and a heart full of love. About 10 months old, Guinness didn’t get the best start in life—he grew up in an unfinished basement with very little time outside. He is so happy to put that in his past and see what the world has to offer.

Guinness is very observant, go-with-the-flow, and truly happy-go-lucky. He’s excited to do anything you want to do with him—whether that’s going for walks, learning new things, playing, or just hanging out together. He is outgoing, sweet, and incredibly loving, with a tail that almost never stops wagging.

He is very playful and submissive with other dogs and does well with dogs of all sizes, though his puppy energy may be a bit much for dogs who don’t enjoy playtime. A typical Lab through and through, Guinness is loyal, affectionate, and firmly believes he’s a lap dog.

Guinness is smart and a fast learner. He already knows “sit” and is working on other commands. He is doing great with his house and crate training in his foster home. Because he wasn’t fed the best food early on, Guinness is currently overweight, but he’s now on a diet dog food and will benefit from regular walks and exercise to get him back to a healthy size.

He’s just learning how to play with toys (he never had any before!) and is loving discovering new things. He can be a little nervous in the car, but overall he is so, so happy and loving. Guinness would thrive with an adopter who wants to continue his training, take him on adventures, and show him just how good life can be.

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
