My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Vicky and Trixie are a pair of bonded sister bunnies looking for a home together. These young rabbits are social, curious, and enjoy spending time with one another as they explore and relax side by side. They can be a little nervous at first in new situations, but they warm up quickly once they feel safe and comfortable. Vicky and Trixie came to us with their mom, Wanda, and if you’re looking to adopt three rabbits, but they can be adopted out just as a pair. If you’re searching for an affectionate pair—or a trio—with lots of love to give, Vicky and Trixie could be the perfect match 🥕🐇💞

Adoption fees for rabbits is $75 for a single or a pair, and include veterinary exam and spay/neuter.

As most of our small animals are in fostercare, if you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about this pet, the best way to start the process is to call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us at springfield@dakinhumane.org. If you already have a cage, please send a picture of your cage when you inquire.

We’ve made a video about how to set up rabbits for success! Check it out, above with the photos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoqIZchn2-g&t=1s {attach this link to the video part of the animals account}

Check out below for cage requirements and other information about Rabbits:

Rabbits typically live 8-10 years.

Housing requirements: Most housing sold at pet stores is too small for small pets. They are going to be spending most of their lives inside their cage; your housing must be as large as the below or larger (bigger is always better!) in order to adopt this pet.
-For rabbits we recommend x-pens/C&C type caging. Expect to spend around $100 on housing.
-Minimum requirements for enclosed spaces is 10 sq. ft. for 1-2 rabbits.
-No wire floors please - they are bad for bunnies’ feet
- Check in with Dakin to see if there are any available housing options in their Thrift Shop!

Rabbits are a social species, meaning they usually enjoy the company of their own kind. If there are two names listed together (eg Peanut Butter w/Jelly), that means that the two animals are a bonded pair of friends, and must be adopted together.

-Got a single at home you’re looking for a friend for? Any animal listed alone on our website is a single and a great candidate
-A new friend will need a separate cage until friendship has been established
-Our rabbits are all spayed/neutered at 4 months of age; as long as one or both rabbits are neutered, mixing genders is okay.
-It takes time and patience to let the rabbits make friends with each other.
