Maxine — A Gentle Heart with So Much Love to Give
Hi, I’m Maxine. I’m a black-and-white tuxie with the cutest little dipped white paws — basically built-in socks. I was rescued in partnership with Animal Friends Connection Humane Society, and I’m learning just how wonderful it feels to be safe and adored.
When I first arrived in foster care, I was a little shy and spent a couple of days tucked into my cat cave, quietly observing. Once I realized everything was okay, though, I came right out of my shell. By day two, I was fully ready for pets and scritches — and I’ve been soaking them up ever since.
Affection is my favorite thing. I greet my humans with tiny squeaks, do happy tail quivers when I’m excited, and flop right over to ask for belly rubs (yes, please!). My purr motor is loud, enthusiastic, and always ready to go. I’m not quite a lap cat yet, but I love curling up next to you and being close — and with time, I might decide laps are pretty great too.
When I’m really content, I sometimes do a little blep and may even drool during belly rubs — that’s how you know I’m very happy. I also have an excellent “elevator butt” and will proudly present it whenever scritches are needed.
I can be a bit cautious with sudden noises or new people and might briefly retreat if startled, but I bounce back quickly once I know everything is safe again. I’d do best in a calm, quiet home with someone who understands my gentle nature and lets me set the pace.
I also have impeccable manners: perfect litter box habits, faithful use of my scratch pad, and zero interest in causing trouble or damaging furniture. I’m an easy, well-behaved companion.
I can be adopted as a solo cat, soaking up all your love, or I could live happily with another cat — as long as they’re mellow and respectful like me. If you’re looking for a sweet, deeply affectionate companion with a soft soul and a big heart, I just might be your girl.
