My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Otter is a 2.5-year-old neutered male pitbull mix with the most handsome red and white coat—and an even sweeter personality to match. He’s a shy guy at first, but don’t let that fool you. Once he realizes he’s safe (a good hug definitely helps!), Otter’s guard comes down and his happy smile starts to shine. After that, you’ll see just how gentle and loving he really is.

Otter does great on leash and truly enjoys going for walks, making him a lovely walking buddy. He’s also very quiet in his kennel and has a calm, mellow nature, which means he could do well in either an apartment or a house. When you stand next to him, he’ll sometimes lean right into you—his subtle way of asking for affection and maybe another hug.

Treats are a big win with Otter and help him build confidence even faster. His compatibility with other dogs is still unknown, so a meet and greet would be required to ensure the best match.

If you’re looking for a sweet, soft-hearted boy who just wants a little patience, kindness, and a lot of love, Otter might be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet him and see if he leans into your heart too.

More about this shelter

The Colony Animal Services strives to protect andTCAS LOGO-UPDATED nurture The City of The Colony’s lost, homeless, abused, injured, and sick pets. We seek to provide animals the opportunity to be reclaimed, adopted, rehabilitated, or rescued. It is the mission for the Animal Service Officers and volunteers to pursue a positive synergy and to serve the citizens and pets of The Colony.

Animal Services is committed to saving each and every animal that comes into our care. Over the last few years, we have improved our live release rate to 97%. We hold our standards high at keeping this percentage, and in doing so, we ask our rescue partners and citizens to help us pursue finding our animals forever homes.

Every year, we get over a hundred injured and sick animals that need our help. In order for us to help them, we use our donated medical fund to give them the proper care and treatment they need. The only way for us to provide this needed medical care is through our generous financial donors. Every penny donated is sent to our medical fund. Please help us continue this much needed medical care for our animals by donating. Even if you cannot donate, it is a huge help to share posts on social media.
