Crossword (aka Curly Sue) is a sweet, young, orange tabby. Since only a small percent of orange tabbies are female, she is rare and special. Making her appearance even more unique is her curly tail! Her tail is curled, sometimes along her back like a pug and sometimes upright in a question mark shape. This uncommon and notable trait adds to her cuteness! Crossword is a super sweet girl, who wants to be with people and loves to be pet, held, picked up, and snuggled. She has a beautiful purr, and is an otherwise quiet kitty. She is curious and loves to explore the house but is not wild or destructive, and to date, is not a climber or jumper. She would love a home where she can spend quality time snuggling on the couch with her people.

We have worked hard to make our adoption process as easy as possible. We like to think of the process in four steps: application, phone conversation, meet and greet and adoption day. We will get back to applicants within a few days even if they were not chosen.

All of our animals are in foster homes. To meet an animal please fill out our adoption application and we will get back to you to schedule a meet and greet if it seems it could be a good fit.

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.
Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
