My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Oreo,

Male - pending neuter
Border Collie Mix
Approx. 7 months old

I'm a happy go-lucky guy who's always ready to play and shower my human friends with affection. My friendly nature makes me a perfect companion for families or individuals looking for a loyal friend. I must admit, though, that as a puppy, I'm still learning the ropes and can be a bit jumpy at times. But with some patience and consistent training, I'm sure to mature into a well-behaved dog.

Right now, I'm diligently working on my potty training. I'm eager to learn, and with a little guidance, I'll quickly catch on to all the necessary routines. It's important for my new family to continue my training by providing positive reinforcement and plenty of encouragement. This will help me become the best version of myself.

I would thrive in a home where I can receive plenty of love, attention, and exercise. An active family or individual who enjoys outdoor activities would be perfect for me. Since I'm still learning, a patient and committed adopter will be essential in helping me grow into a well-mannered adult dog.

My playful energy and affectionate nature make me an ideal pet for those looking to add a furry friend to their family.

Additional adoption info

All pets available for adoption through the Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and will have received a parasite preventative or treatment. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs and $175 for cats plus tax. If applicable, the purchase of a pet license will be required at the time of adoption.

Before considering pet adoption, potential pet parents are encouraged to do their own research on the type of pet that they are interested in adopting. Different breeds, for example, can have very different exercise needs or may be prone to certain genetic conditions. It is also a good idea to speak with your local veterinarian to gain insight about the type of pet you are considering adopting and the initial and yearly animal care costs involved with pet ownership.

All adoptions require an application and an in person or phone consultation prior to be being approved.

Pet licensing

Pet licenses aid in the fast return of a lost pet to its owner. They provide an immediate visual clue to anyone who finds the pet, which often results in the pet not having to be brought into an animal shelter.
