My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
S'mores was brought in by a community member on December 20, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
S'mores is a handsome boy with a heart full of wiggles and enthusiasm. This charming pup is full of personality and ready to share his joy with an active person or family who's looking for a canine companion to keep up with them. With his happy energy and eager spirit, S'mores is the kind of dog who makes every day a little brighter. As a working-breed type, S'mores is definitely not a couch potato. He's looking for a home that enjoys long walks, hikes, outdoor adventures, and quality hang-out time together. S'mores is still learning and will benefit from continued training, structure, and mental enrichment to help him thrive and channel his energy in positive ways. He's at his best when he has a job to do-whether that's learning new skills, exploring new trails, or being your adventure buddy. It is important to note that S'mores has an unsteady and wobbly gait. The cause of this is currently uncertain, and we recommend following up with your veterinarian if you notice any worsening or have further concerns. S'mores will benefit from patience, consistency, and positive guidance as he continues growing into a truly great dog. Building trust and understanding will be key to helping him succeed. If you're ready to let this wiggly boy trot right into your life, S'mores can't wait to meet you! Please bring a leash and collar for a safe journey home.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
