Luva Pete arrived as a stray, and his finders shared that he’s a friendly, playful boy who enjoys pets and got along well with their dog during his time in their home.
This 4-year-old, 87.6-lb guy has a big heart to match his size. In the play yard, Luva Pete is convinced he’s a lap dog, soaking up attention whenever he can. He shows off his manners, knowing “sit,” “down,” and “stay” very well. He’s a strong boy, but is generally good on his leash. He has a calm and gentle demeanor and is just happy to be with you. He also appears to be house trained. Luva Pete is a lovable, affectionate companion in the making.
Luva Pete spent time in a foster home and quickly showed what a loving, devoted companion he is. He settled in nicely, enjoying couch cuddles and sticking close to his people—whether relaxing or following along from room to room. Once settled for the night, he chose his own cozy spot and rested comfortably.
Pete is an amazing listener who knows sit, down, and stay and is eager to please. He walks politely on leash at the start of outings and can get a bit excited later in the walk, so he’d benefit from gentle leash guidance. He’s been using the bathroom outside consistently, with just one overnight accident that appeared to be related to a tummy upset and late-night timing. Overall, Luva Pete is a sweet, affectionate boy who thrives on companionship and would love a home where he can be close to his people, soak up attention, and continue his routine with patience and care. He’s ready to bring a whole lot of love to his forever home.

Step 2: Visit our shelter during adoption hours (Monday-Friday 2-6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.). When you arrive, you will first be asked to fill out our Shelter Adoption Application with your information. You may also pre-fill our Shelter Adoption Application ahead of time online to save time when you are at the shelter. Your application will be processed after you meet the animal.
Step 3: Tour our adoption rooms and write down the names of animals that you would like to meet. A volunteer or staff member will help you meet your chosen animals to make a match!
Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
What else to expect: Animals who are already spayed/neutered and past their stray hold (if applicable) can often go home with you the same day. Pick-up arrangements for unaltered animals and/or animals still on a stray hold will be made during your adoption class.
