My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.

Cardi is at risk for behavior reasons. Cardi is deteriorating in care and causing harm to herself in her kennel. She will fixate on the transfer door and chew, her face and paws swelling. She is very sweet and social with staff and volunteers. However, she should be the only dog in the home. Medically, Cardi has periodontal disease, mammary gland tumors, and a dermal mass.  Cardi was underweight when she arrived at the shelter.  While blood work was consistent with her body condition, chronic disease, including liver or GI disease, is possible.

Cardi is a 7-year-old sweetheart who has been friendly and social with both staff and volunteers. She loves bath time, water play, and grooming, and happily enjoys car rides. Cardi is very active but listens well and knows her cues, making her a fun and engaging companion. She is highly food motivated and can be a bit pushy for treats, so she would benefit from continued reinforcement of polite treat manners. Cardi has shown reactivity toward small dogs, so she would do best as the only dog in the home. With her affectionate nature, energy, and love for people, Cardi is ready to thrive in a home that understands her needs and enjoys an active, loving companion.
