My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi hoomans! My name is Maisie ('Mongsil' in Korea) and here's more about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Jindo / Spitz-type mix

  • Age: 2 years approx.

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 11lbs (5 kg)

  • Current Location: South Korea

RESCUE STORY - A tale as old as tiiiiime. You see, I was found by a local dog rescuer at a city shelter completly freezing, and shaking with fear. I'm just a little gal who just wasn't having a good experience. These wonderful hoomans wanted me to be safe, warm, and above all LOVED. Right away I am very people-friendly and show no shyness around humans. I LOVE affection and will quietly look at people, asking to be petted in a gentle and sweet way. I get along well with other dogs at the shelter I'm in now, and especially enjoy spending time with puppies, playing kindly and happily with them. My favourite thing to do is lay down, cuddled with hoomans!

TEMPERAMENT - I'm a bundle of joy and a whole lot of spirit in a small package! I love to play with other doggos and toys (and hoomans too!) and I would make a fantastic family pet. I promise to be the bestest and most obedient girl for you! I'm a super well-rounded pup and would do equally well on long walks and at the dog park as I would chilling on the couch at home.

ENERGY LEVEL - Low to Medium. My energy levels aren’t that high, it only gets high when there are treats and playful cuddles involved. I like going on a walk and mostly love to spend time as a couch potato with my favourite human.

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Unknown

  • Dogs – Yep!! I don’t really mind company of other dogs but I'm more focused on humans. I'll sometimes play with other dogs but more focused on following people around.

  • Cats – Unknown but can be tested

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – I like going on walks but love to sniff EVERYTHING. Here I am! I take this time to explore the different scents around me but when my leash handler calls me, I follow with a smile. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!

  • House trained – This is a work in progress and frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home.

  • Crate trained – This is a work in progress and may need some additional training and patience.

  • Car rides – This is a work in progress and may need some additional training and patience.

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD (including 5% GST & 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
