Meet Nugget — a 7-month-old Labrador Retriever mix who proves that big personalities really do come in bite-sized names.
This young lady is all puppy energy and playful vibes. Nugget is very interested in making dog friends and would love a canine playmate who can keep up with her zoomies and enthusiasm. She’s friendly and great with other dogs, and we’re definitely seeing that social spark here.
Nugget is learning fast! While the leash used to feel a little scary, she now walks pretty well and is all about leaning in for petting once she gets to know you, soaking up affection like the sweet pup she is.
Toys? Oh yes. Nugget will happily chase them… retrieving them is still a “work in progress,” but she’s eager to learn and has a ton of potential!
Nugget is young and ready to keep growing and learning with the right family by her side. She`s a playful, sweet, and energetic companion who will thrive with plenty of love, attention, and exercise.

All shelter locations are conducting animal viewing and adoptions on a first come, first serve basis. We are not able to move a pet from one location to another for your viewing.
The adoption fee is waived for all available pets in care and in foster homes. Standard adoption practices will still be in place, including background checks.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) expanded the shelter days of service to seven days a week with operational hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and pet viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m for both the east and west side shelter locations.
