Meet Shooting Star! This joyful, wiggly girl is living up to her name and shining brighter every day. Shooting Star is a 3-year-old, 38-lb pup with a bubbly personality, a love for people, and a whole lot of charm. Curious, playful, and affectionate, she’s the kind of dog who brings instant smiles wherever she goes.
Shooting Star recently attended an adoption event and absolutely stole the spotlight. She greeted everyone she met with enthusiasm, kisses, and tail wags—this happy girl truly has never met a stranger. She was wonderful with children, meeting several kids with a gentle, friendly demeanor, and even formed an instant bond with a baby, soaking up giggles and affection with pure delight.
She’s very food-motivated and loves working for treats, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. She’s currently learning “sit” and has even started practicing “down.” While she can be a bit jumpy when she’s excited, she’s easily redirected and eager to please—making her a great candidate for continued positive-reinforcement training. With consistency and snacks, she’s sure to be a star student.
In her foster home, Shooting Star enjoys cuddling, being close to her people, and taking cozy naps during the day, balanced with bursts of playful energy. She’s still working on housetraining and is making steady progress with frequent potty breaks. She’s also learning how to settle when left alone and would benefit from supervision and structure as she continues adjusting to home life.
On leash, Shooting Star is enthusiastic and very driven by smells, sometimes pulling and zig-zagging as she explores the world. She enjoys being out and about and would do well with continued leash training to help her channel that excitement. She’s shown friendly curiosity toward other dogs and has met canine pals at BARCS, warming up slowly and engaging in some play.
Shooting Star has also spent time around cats and even a bunny, showing curiosity without reactivity. She appears to be house-trained in structured settings and continues improving in her foster home.
Wiggly, affectionate, and full of joy, Shooting Star is ready to bring sparkle, laughter, and lots of love into a forever home. She’s currently in the comfort of a foster home. If you’re interested in meeting her, please complete an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org for next steps!
