Meet Westley! Westley is one of four special kittens who have been working their way toward confidence with patience and care. He and his brothers arrived at the shelter very unsocial, fearful, and intolerant of handling. After weeks of consistent work from shelter staff, the boys showed encouraging improvement and were able to continue their progress in a foster home.
Westley spent additional time with a foster who specializes in kitten socialization, where his personality has begun to shine. He is more confident than his brother Inigo Montoya and often leads by example through play and exploration. While he is comfortable being out and engaged, Westley will still flee if movements are too quick or unexpected, especially when he isn’t prepared for interaction. He does best with calm, predictable handling and will need patient adopters, a home without small children, and continued gentle exposure to help him keep building trust.
Westley enjoys human company on his terms and will often stay close to people, especially during quiet moments. He tolerates brief touching and shows curiosity and engagement, but sudden motions can still overwhelm him. His ability to model calm, exploratory behavior has been especially helpful to his siblings, making him an important confidence-builder within the group.
Westley shares a close bond with Inigo Montoya, with Westley’s higher confidence helping Inigo feel more secure and willing to engage. Their complementary personalities and shared play style make their bond beneficial to both kittens, and they would thrive being adopted together. If you enjoy watching trust grow over time and can offer a calm, steady environment, Westley (and Inigo) could be a deeply rewarding addition to your home. With patience and understanding, Westley has all the potential to continue blossoming into a confident companion.
