My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A volunteer writes:
Dottie Dot is a delicate 2-year-old beauty, petite and almost entirely white, who has endured countless heartbreaks. She came from a home overflowing with cats-the only world she'd ever known since birth. When she arrived at the care center, she was still nursing her kittens, but her babies weren't brought with her.
Imagine the devastation: losing her home, her feline companions, and her precious babies all at once, only to find herself caged in a loud, overwhelming city shelter. It's no wonder Dottie Dot is frozen with fear, sometimes trembling at the enormity of her trauma.
After nearly two weeks with us, this gentle girl remains pressed against the back wall of her kennel, desperately trying to disappear. She accepts petting submissively, occasionally closing her eyes when spoken to softly, but she's still profoundly wary. Dottie makes herself small, silent, and invisible-eating and using her litter box only when she believes no one is watching. She never hisses, never swats. She simply wants to fade into the background and feel safe again.
Little Dottie Dot needs someone extraordinary: a patient, understanding owner who will provide a quiet home and the gift of time. She needs someone who will celebrate the smallest victories, who won't rush her healing, and who believes that love and persistence can mend even the most broken spirit.
Will you be the one to help Dottie Dot find her voice-and her joy-again?

Dottie Dot is resting inside of her litterbox. She raises her head to sniff the assessor's hand and leans in slightly to petting on her cheeks and head. She tolerates petting along her body. After, she slow blinks at the assessor. When a partial pick-up is attempted, Dottie Dot begins slightly trembling. The interaction is ended as to not further increase Dottie Dot's stress.

Dottie Dot tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.
