Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
This helps Animal Care Centers of NYC | Manhattan with pet care costs.
What my friends at ACC say about me:
My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!
I would do best in a home with only adult humans.
I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.
Origami is sitting in her den. When the door is opened, she looks with forward ears and peers out of the den portal. She sniffs scratcher tool intently but ducks back in when petting on her cheeks is attempted. The assessor places a tray of squeeze up in front of her and Origami sniffs it, licking it a few times. She allows a few pets on her head and a pass along her body with the scratcher tool before ducking back into the den. Origami seems conflicted and will take a few steps out of the den before going back inside, and repeating this several times. When the assessor adjusts her den cover, she softly hisses. Once the door is closed, Origami comes fully out of the den and to the front of the kennel, sniffing at the assessor's hand. After a few seconds Origami then retreats back into her den.
Origami tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
