Rugga is a clever, energetic boy who loves people more than just about anything. He was surrendered when his owners could no longer care for him and is now looking for an active home that enjoys an engaged, people-focused dog.
In the yard, Rugga burns energy with zoomies and ball chasing, but he's never too far from his human companion. After playtime, he happily returns for belly rubs and back scratches. On walks, his nose is always down searching and exploring, and his intelligence as a working dog shows as he checks in often and wants to do the right thing.
Rugga is not a couch potato, but is happy to hang out for cuddles once he gets his brain moving and gets the energy out. He will thrive in an environment with exercise, enrichment and continued training. He loves to flex his obedience skills showing of his sit, down, paw, and even smile commands. He gets along with other dogs, seems ok with cats, and even good with children; Rugga is the complete package for a loving and loyal family dog.

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
