Alyx—better known as Widget—is the *awesomest* cat you didn’t know you were missing. Truly. She’s out of her wild kitten phase but still has the perfect amount of playful energy to keep life fun.
Alyx loves to play, chase, and hunt with her humans, then flop over dramatically to beg for scritches and affection. She’s social, engaging, and full of personality—but also wonderfully independent. When you’re busy working or catching up on sleep, she’s perfectly happy to disappear for a few hours and do her own thing.
Alyx is the ideal balance of fun and chill: interactive without being demanding, affectionate without being clingy. If you’re looking for a cat who will be your playful companion and respect your downtime, Alyx is quite literally the best cat.
Now to the particulars:
Alyx knows she’s a star and she likes to be queen bee. She would not be a good fit with another dominant cat.
Alyx loves to run and play and would likely do well with well-behaved older children. She isn’t fond of young children and would thrive in a home where her space and boundaries are respected. Her favorite toys are ribbons on sticks with feathers or mice attached to the end. She will run all over the house chasing them.
She loves a warm lap. If she feels you are not taking enough breaks or watching enough TV, she will meow at you until you sit down - and then she'll stake out her spot on your warm lap and show you just how wonderful cat companionship is!
She’s one smart cookie and needs toys and enrichment that keep her engaged—you can literally see her brain working when she’s given a new toy or introduced to a new situation. She enjoys cat puzzle toys where she has to move pieces around to get the treats to come out.
Her previous adopters reported that she did well with respectful dogs.
Alyx eats an all–wet food diet: one can in the morning, one can in the evening, with the occasional extra half-can when she is particularly active.
Her litter box manners are impeccable. She loves scratching posts and pads of all kinds, enjoys climbing cat trees, and prefers to observe the world from the highest vantage point possible.

More about this rescue
Purr Partners Feline Rescue is a 501(c)(3), no-kill, foster-based, all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in Central North Carolina — incorporated in 2009 by two friends, four cats, and no budget. These two women realized the need for a "cat only" rescue that worked with rural shelters — where cats routinely lose their lives. Purr Partners was founded to save the lives of those most in jeopardy with little hope of survival. High-kill rural shelters became the focus for Purr Partners, and that is still true today. From those humble beginnings, the rescue has grown to over a hundred active volunteers and a budget of approximately $175,000. At any given time there are between 100 and 150 cats and kittens in foster care. We have saved the lives of over 3500 cats and are still growing!
