My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! my name is Rocket 🚀
And before you scroll past me because I’m “not a Rottweiler,” please give me just a minute. I promise I’ll be worth it 🙏🏽
I didn’t have the best start to life😔 I’ve been back to the shelter more times than any dog ever should. I don’t really understand why. What I do know is that one day I ended up on a list I wasn’t supposed to come back from ⏳I was out of time.
But then something unbelievable happened 🥹 A rescue that saves Rottweilers, dogs that don’t even look like me, asked for me. They asked for an extension they don’t always get… and the shelter said yes, a word that they don’t normally say 😌 The holidays bought me two more days. Two days that turned into a miracle 🙏🏽Somewhere along the way, a volunteer at a high kill shelter and a rescue coordinator refused to forget me, emails were sent late at night with an idea to reach out to my previous foster which fostered me through the shelter, asking them if they would be willing to foster me again but through a rescue this time! Before I knew it people who loved me that fostered me before didn’t even know I was there until they were already racing to the shelter parking lot to get me 🥹 The last they had heard is I was still in my adopters home they had no idea they returned me back to the shelter due to housing issues! The miracle is that I was past my euthanasia date. I wasn’t supposed to be here. But I am because of a Rottweiler rescue and I’m just as confused as you are 🤨 but who am I to question my life I just really want to prove this was worth it, I am worth it!
So let me tell you who I actually am 💙 I’m a 1.5 year old super breed with a giant Lab head, shepherd fur, and an even bigger heart 💛 I’m potty trained, kennel trained… but if I’m being honest, I prefer sleeping right next to your bed so I can make sure you’re still there, I’m used to being left unfortunately 😔 I know my basic commands, focus, sit, down, stay, I take my training very seriously. Well unless there’s a fly in the room 🪰Then all bets are off. (I try to catch them. I fail. Repeatedly. It’s embarrassing, but we’ll laugh about it.) 🫣 I LOVE fetch 🎾 And not just normal fetch, I catch the ball in the air and politely drop it at your feet like the very good boy I am. I love food, treats, toys, new smells, new places, and exploring the world like everything is brand new 🌎 But more than anything, I love people. I love dogs. I love closeness 🥰 I love invading your personal space just to make sure you feel loved 💕Because of my past, I might need a little time to settle into a new environment. I just want to be sure this time is forever 🥹I haven’t been around little kids that we know of, but I do great with teenagers. I’d be perfect for a family with older kids, other dogs, or active people who want a loyal sidekick to burn energy with and then crash on the couch 🛋️ point is I don’t need to be a Rottweiler to deserve saving. I don’t need to look a certain way to be chosen 🐾 I was chosen anyway. And now I just need you. So If you let me, I’ll spend every day proving that the extension, the tears, the late night email, the miracle, all of it was worth it.
I’m Rocket 🚀 And I’m ready to finally go home. 🏠

More about this rescue

R.E.A.L Rottweiler Rescue was founded in 2003 by a couple with a passion and love for the Rottweiler breed. We are an all volunteer based 501c3 non-profit rescue organization. Our primary focus has been on Rottweilers, but we also rescue medium and large sized dogs of all breeds. We take in homeless rottweilers and work with them in our homes to assess personality, temperament, training and needs. Then place them up for adoption. Our goal is to find not just any home for each dog, but the perfect match for both the dog and its new family. To date, R.E.A.L. has had over 2000 successful adoptions!
