My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Anubis: Ancient God of Receiving Pets and Displaying Zoomies.

Don't let the powerful name fool you - Anubis is less "guardian of the underworld" and more "guardian of your personal space." This handsome boy is playful, goofy, and hyper affectionate. He believes scratches are a basic human obligation and that attention should be given early, often and enthusiastically (and by EVERYONE that encounters him.)

Anubis loves to play, loves his people, and loves being involved in absolutely everything you're doing. He's lived successfully with an older dog before, but like any true deity, he can be a little selective about his canine inner circle - quality over quantity and such.

If you're looking for a loyal, loving, attention-soaking sidekick who will worship you like the sun god you are, Anubis is ready to move in and claim his throne on your couch.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
