Once Akira feels safe and comfortable, she blossoms into a loving companion who enjoys cuddling and being close to her people.
True to her Husky roots, Akira has that classic independent spirit and expressive personality, along with a love for movement and exploration once she gains confidence. She’ll do best in a quiet, understanding home that can give her time to settle in and build trust at her own pace.

OTHER DOGS: No - Akira can be pushy with other dogs
ACTIVITY/ENERGY LEVEL: Moderate to High; will need a lot of daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation.
HUMAN COMPATIBILTY: First time dog owner possible as long as they`re willing to work with patience and understanding
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/NEEDS: Three in-person training to work on socialization, basic training and manners and desensitization
HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER: Once comfortable Akira is very human social and prefers to be around her favourite people as much as possible.

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
