My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Lilo, and here’s a little more about me:

My Social Life
Other cats: I may enjoy the company of other friendly, respectful cats with slow and proper introductions.
Dogs: I haven’t met dogs yet, but calm and gentle ones might be okay with time.
Kids: I’d do best with gentle, cat-savvy humans who understand how to move slowly and let me set the pace.
My social circle, summed up:
I’m a quiet observer at first, but once I feel comfortable, I enjoy being near my people and sharing soft, meaningful moments.

My Personality
I’m a little shy when we first meet, but curiosity always wins. I like to watch, explore, and slowly come closer as I build trust. Once I feel safe, my affectionate side comes out — especially if you offer head scratches or a good butt rub (those are my favorites!). I’m gentle, sweet, and enjoy companionship without needing to be the center of attention.

I Enjoy…
Gentle head pats and excellent butt rubs
Quiet time spent near my humans
Exploring my space at my own pace
Calm affection and predictable routines

I’m Not a Fan Of…
I don’t love being rushed or overwhelmed. Slow movements, patience, and respecting my boundaries help me feel confident and relaxed.

What Makes Me Special
My soft orange-and-white tabby markings give me a warm, comforting look — paired with a shy-sweet personality that makes earning my trust extra rewarding.

My Perfect Home
I’d thrive in a peaceful home with patient adopters who enjoy building a bond over time. If you’re someone who appreciates a cat who warms up gradually and rewards you with quiet affection, gentle nudges, and happy wiggles during butt rubs, we might be a perfect match.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
