Calling all senior dog lovers. This one’s special.
Meet Hugh, a 13-year-old Coonhound with the gentlest soul and the softest eyes. Hugh recently came into our care after being surrendered, and now he’s searching for his own happily ever after. He’s the definition of a sweet old man. Calm, well-mannered, and easygoing, Hugh is happiest when life is slow and cozy. If there’s a sunny spot on the floor or a warm bed to curl up in, that’s where you’ll find him. He would gladly spend all day snoozing and cuddling if given the option.
Hugh has lived peacefully with other animals, though slow introductions are always best. Because of his age, he’d prefer a home with older kids or no kids at all. One of his favorite things in the world is snow. We’re told his love for snowy days makes winter feel a little more magical.
He’s crate trained and enjoys having his own comfy space to relax and decompress. Hugh still loves his walks, though you’ll want to keep an eye out for neighborhood critters because those hound instincts are very much still there. He’s highly motivated by treats and praise and wants nothing more than to make his people happy. He does prefer some peace and quiet while eating, so being fed in his crate works well for him.
Hugh deserves to spend his golden years surrounded by comfort, warmth, and love. To help make that happen, his previous family generously paid forward his adoption fee as a thank you to whoever opens their heart and home to this sweet senior boy.
