Dennis Man! I can’t believe the change in my attitude just from receiving TLC from the HSHC! I was picked up as a stray cat on December 27 and brought to the shelter. The sudden departure from my familiar lifestyle—roaming, scrounging, trying to stay alive, and hiding from strangers—shocked me to the core. I was hissy, grouchy, fearful, stressed, and feeling very sick. The medical team discovered that I had a raging ear infection in my left ear, with the likelihood of it being a long-term situation. My ear was already cauliflowered from multiple infections. I also had an upper respiratory infection. Hey, these are just the consequences of being a stray; there was nobody taking care of me. They got down to business, finding the right treatments and medications for me. In short, it’s no wonder I was feeling so crotchety and unsociable! I was in major pain!! But yesterday, when the interviewer lady (IL)stopped by to talk with me, I was a new man! Before, I was moping around, nervous and reluctant to engage with people. But now I was eager to have her pet my head, give me chin scratches, and cheek rubs! I even rolled over onto my back and hung my head over the edge of my Kasa to make it easier for her to go to work on my itches. I was in hog heaven because I had never felt this good in my 4-years on this earth! The photo lady (PHL) agreed with the IL and took my picture. They both said I was super-duper cute and happy! Here’s the real scoop on me. When I am healthy and feeling pain-free, I am a true cuddle-monster, loving attention, petting, and curling up on your lap. I am ready to find a fantastic forever home, with a loving owner who will take care of me and prevent those awful ear infections. No kidding! I am an adorable fellow with lots of affection to share! Just ask the IL, the PHL, and the Cattery Manager, Melody! 2-6-26

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
