My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Current Location: Catonsville, MD

Meet Chance: A Curious Boy Ready for a Fresh Start

Chance is a curious, playful, and goofy boy who loves treats, chewies, and stuffed animals. He's a little mountain goat who loves to jump up on anything to get to the highest point possible! When gets his energy out, he'll happily be your little hang out buddy. He loves to give kisses and runs up to people for pets and snuggles, showing his sweet, affectionate side.

Fitness Journey Ahead
Chance is overweight and needs a fitness buddy to help him shed some pounds. He loves to walk and does very well on leash, though he pulls a little when excited. He makes walks pleasant and safe. He's currently low to medium energy, but once he loses weight, he'll likely be closer to medium energy and ready for more adventures!

Smart and Trainable
Chance responds well when told "No" and happily comes when called (though he doesn't appear to know the name Chance yet). He seems very smart and will take well to training. He's praise and treat motivated, making him eager to learn.

House Manners
Chance is excellent in the crate, going in willingly and calmly hanging out. He hasn't made a single peep when left alone. He is fully house broken in his foster home.

Social Life
Chance is good with dogs and new people. He would do well with older children, as the quick, unpredictable fun of younger kids throws him off a bit. He's not a fan of cats and likes to chase them, though this could potentially be worked on with an experienced owner.

Personal Property
Chance likes his food and treats to be all his and can be protective of them. Diligence about giving him space to enjoy his personal treasures is important.

Best Home Fit
Chance needs someone with patience to help bring him out of his shell and show him that life can be good. He would thrive with an experienced owner who understands his protectiveness of his personal resources, is committed to his fitness journey, and can provide the structure, training, and love he needs to blossom.

If you're looking for a curious, affectionate boy who will reward your patience and experience with loyalty and kisses, Chance is ready to meet you. Apply today!

MEET AND GREETS

We primarily rely on meet & greets for potential adopters. Approved adopters may meet adoptable animals at the home of the animal's foster, or possibly in the adopter's own home.

More about this rescue

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. rescues dogs of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters reducing the numbers being euthanized daily. We provide foster homes where they can get the love and attention needed before finding their forever homes. Our organization provides pet adoption services in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, and parts of Southern Pennsylvania. Operation Paws for Homes, a 501(c)(3) organization, is 100% donor funded and could not save these dogs and fulfill their dreams of being united with their forever families, without the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors and volunteers. Sadly, without our help, all of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - usually within days or hours of arriving at the shelter. Each year we take in hundreds of wonderful animals who were left at shelters by no fault of their own.
