Banana Split was thrown away like trash.
Literally.
A community member found her inside a trash can.
The lid was closed.
She was lying in a puddle of water—sick, terrified, alone, and silent.
At some point, Banana stopped crying for help. She had given up.
If that trash can had been emptied before she was found, Banana wouldn’t be here. She would have been crushed in a trash truck, never knowing kindness again. That truth is hard to sit with—but it’s real. Stories like this happen every single day.
Since coming to us, Banana Split has slowly regained her health. Even more incredible—she’s begun to trust again. She’s learning that not all people are cruel. That gentle hands exist. That love is possible.
We can’t save them all.
That truth breaks us every day.
But we will never stop trying to save as many as we can.
Banana Split deserves a life that looks nothing like her beginning. She deserves safety, warmth, and a forever home where she will never be discarded again.
