What my friends at ACC say about me:
I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.
Moonie tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.
My foster writes: Moonie is a bright, playful young lady with a big personality and an even bigger love of playtime. She likes to keep her humans company and quickly made herself at home-she even started sleeping in bed and warming foster feet at night.
Moonie is still gaining confidence with handling, but she's making great progress in her socialization journey. She happily takes treats from a hand and is learning that people can be pretty wonderful (especially the treat-dispensing kind!).
Her favorite activities include chasing feather teaser wands and laser dots, but her absolute favorite is playing with other cats. She's a high-energy kitty who would thrive with an attentive, patient adopter-and ideally a confident cat sibling who can join her for epic zoomie sessions and daily play.
Moonie will do best with someone who understands that trust takes time and that introductions should move at her pace. She's not a fan of being approached too quickly and may hide if she feels overwhelmed, so a calm home and a gentle, "let her come to you" approach will help her shine.
If you're looking for a beautiful, clever companion with lots of playful energy and a heart that blossoms with patience, Moonie might be your perfect match.
My foster writes: On her second night in my home, Moonie waited for me to get into bed and climbed in next to me, staying put as I tucked her in. She is a pure unadulterated sweetheart. When she was rescued with her four kittens, she was severely undernourished and very skinny, but her kittens were all healthy, clean and well fed; she gave them all she had. She is a floofy girl who loves pets. She has not been very playful so far, possibly because she was focused on motherhood; now that her kittens are weaned and adopted out, she may become more active.
A volunteer writes: Moonie was abandoned with her kittens in the lobby of an apartment building. Though she looked a little worse for wear, her kittens were sparkling. She stepped up as best she could for them, but needed a little hand. Knowing when to ask for help is a skill and usually works even better if you know exactly what you want. Moonie's much better at this than I am as she accompanies her requests with some helpful information and tips. We've learned appreciates a slower approach when meeting new people and does best when she has the space to make some decisions for herself. Treats are exponentially helpful
