My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hazel 💛

Hazel is a super sweet, petite little lady with a big love for people. She adores attention and is always happy to be close—whether that means curling up for a cozy snuggle or perching on your shoulder like a tiny parrot to keep you company.

Her personality is mellow and gentle, making her a calm and comforting presence in the home. Hazel is currently sharing space with an in-home foster dog, and while she’s not quite convinced yet, she’s politely on the fence and taking it all in at her own pace.

If you’re looking for an affectionate, people-loving cat with a soft spirit and an adorable shoulder-sitting habit, Hazel might just be your perfect match. 🐾

All CSHS kitties are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, FIV/FeLV test (if not born in care), dewormed and microchipped.

Go meet their pets

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue

Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.

In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.

CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
