Meet the Pet
This helps Sophia L'Orange Kitten Rescue with pet care costs.
"It's better to be looked over than overlooked." - Mae West.
Stop! Don't keep scrolling by & overlook dame Mae West, this doll would be heartbroken if she knew you didn't stop to give her the attention she deserves! And if we know anything about Mae West, it's that she likes attention. Mae is sure you are always happy to see her, and why wouldn't you be? She's a sweetie - pets & belly rubs, please! And then more pets & belly rubs - "Too much of a good thing is wonderful!" Mae is dapper in her classic black & white, she's the cat's pajamas! Mom Mae West is ready to retire from the kitten rearing and live the lifestyle of glamour and fame, with a forever family to adore her. Mae West had a long, varied, successful career spanning over decades, our Mae is looking to be as successful as her namesake and find her fortune - a forever family to spend the rest of her life with!
For all the attention Mae West got, she ended up contracting FIV, most likely when she was impregnated.
Becoming FIV+ is always a possibility for kitties, particularly when they hadn't been spayed or neutered), growing up on the street (it is contracted via a deep bite or through sex). The good news is that a FIV positive kitty can live a full life inside and is not likely to pass it on, if fixed and he/she is not aggressive. With a slow introduction to another friendly cat or in a home with other FIV+ they usually do so well. They are the purrfect kitty for the right home and a loving cat owner.
FIV does not transmit across species. So an FIV+ kitty can easily be adopted into a home with dogs, as well (with a slow introduction of course), or as a single animal in a home.
You can see more pictures and videos of our fosters on our facebook page: Sophia L'Orange Kitten Rescue
All of our adoptable animals are cared for and assessed in foster homes (we do not have a shelter), up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered and tested for FeLV/FIV, before they are adopted. They have had de-worming medication as a standard of care and Flea/Tick/Ear Mite preventive treatment. Medical records will be released with the adopted pet.
