My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Rosco's adoption fee has been sponsored thanks to a generous donor*

Hi, I’m Rosco, and I’m so happy to meet you that I don’t just wag my tail – I wag my whole body!
I’m a big goofy boy that looks tough but I’m a real sweetheart. I’m just a lapdog in a 73-pound body.
I like playing with my foster mom’s dog out in the yard but I really just want to be in house where I can lay around and gaze into your eyes. I’m very calm and quiet in the house, too.

My dog bed is setup next to the window and I love laying on it and watching the squirrels and birds at the feeder.

My foster mom says I’m really smart and that I try hard! I have so much love that sometimes I just have to jump up but I’m learning that people don’t really want a big goofy boy jumping on them so I’m already learning to keep my feet on the floor and let all that love out in body wags instead.

I’m learning all about leashes and manners but sometimes I get so excited to sniff something that I pull a little.

I sleep in a crate at night at my foster mom’s house. I willingly go in it if there’s a little bribe, er- I mean incentive, in the form of a yummy treat. And then I’m happy to stretch and yawn and settle down for the night. I don’t bark or whine, I just snooze. I don’t even snore!
If you are training for an ultramarathon and want a dog running beside you for all those training miles – I’m not the dog for you! But if you want a big boy with a bigger heart who loves sniffing around on walks but mostly just wants to hang out wherever you are, come meet me!

--------------------------------------------
All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.

Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.

More about this rescue

The mission of Warrior Dog Rescue is to save the dogs that are homeless, left abandoned in shelters, are surrendered by their owners, those that are being abused and neglected, and those that are left wandering. We are committed to providing them the medical care they need, helping them to overcome their past by providing them loving, educated foster homes, finding them their perfect forever home by means of a thorough adoption process, and guiding them on their journey into their new life. They all deserve a “good dog life… every single one of them.”

Warrior Dog Rescue will be a model rescue by partnering with overcrowded shelters that need to make room for more abandoned dogs. We will continue to educate others about responsible dog ownership in regards to safety, spay/neuter, nutrition, obedience, socializing, abuse, and neglect. We acknowledge that we will have a role in this industry to take the lead on providing awareness to others in the community and across the country. Every dog will know what it feels like to be loved till the end of their life.
