My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tessa!

This sweet girl is ready to be the apple of your eye and get the home she's been waiting for!

This lovely girl is affectionate, silly and full of curiosity, and is waiting for life's doors to open up and show her what its got to offer. She's had a pretty limited life and didn't go out in her previous home, so is seeking to ditch that home body life. Due to Tessa not going for walkies, she has become a bit thick on the hips, and could greatly benefit from someone who is active and committed to giving her health back, and shedding down some of that extra kibble weight.

Tessa is so sweet, and is sure to make your heart sing with her loving personality. She hasn't been showing us much interest in toys, and seems more people oriented than anything! Her last home had many dogs in it, so she hasn't ever really gotten the chance to be your all. She would likely not mind living with a new canine friend, but sure wont pass up the chance to be #1!!

Due to the number of dogs in her previous home, Tessa has never really gotten any 1v1 training, so would benefit from starting from the basics to be her best self!
She has also shown signs of a bit of barrier frustration while here to other dogs from outside of her home, so will thrive with lots of positive reinforcement and reassurance.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
