Cowardly Lion may have the fluff of a king, but right now he’s still working on his courage.
The biggest of the brothers (though still under 25 lbs), Cowardly Lion is a soft, straw-colored chihuahua mix with expressive eyes that show just how unsure he feels. New situations can be overwhelming, and he’ll need extra TLC as he learns the world isn’t quite so scary.
Like Tin Man, Cowardly Lion has already started to come out of his shell with patient staff members who spend quiet, gentle time with him. Each step forward proves that bravery doesn’t mean fearless, it just means trying.
With the right adopter, Cowardly Lion is going to grow into a deeply loyal, affectionate companion who bonds hard once he feels safe. All he needs is someone willing to walk beside him on his yellow brick road.
We were told that he and his brothers are housetrained, but are used to going in and out as they please with a doggy door to a fenced in backyard. They will need leash training and housetraining in their new home.
His adoption fee is $200 and this includes his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test, monthly preventions, and a microchip that we register for you. To apply visit EffinghamCountyHumaneSociety.org
